電影拍攝於1954年﹐改編自1952年John Secondari 的小說 Coins In The Fountain﹐故事講述3名美國女生在意大利的戀愛故事。她們曾在一個噴泉擲幣許願﹐期望在意大利覓得婚姻。
Frances 為一名美國作家John任秘書﹐暗戀了他15年﹐但對方卻毫無表示。Anita 於美國大使館工作了兩年﹐藉口辭職回美國結婚﹐希望能回國找到心愛的人﹐但走之前卻愛上了大使館的翻譯員Georgio ﹐但這卻違反了上司嚴禁下屬跟本地人來往的規例。至於Maria初來羅馬﹐為著接替Anita的職務﹐然而她看上了一名富家子Dino ﹐不惜千方百計探求他喜歡的一切﹐計劃來個性格相同的偶然。後來Maria向 Dino 坦然相告﹐對方即感到被騙而再沒聯絡。Anita 與 Georgio之間的事被上司發現了﹐對方就把 Georgio撤職了﹐但是Georgio認為養不起Anita ﹐但是又不想她跟自己的窮家人一塊生活﹐所以關係就僵住了﹐於是Anita與 Maria都計劃回國。Frances因感到她兩位室友都要相繼離去﹐而跟John的感情也沒有結果﹐於是計劃回國。故事的結局當然是大團圓了﹐John本來得病﹐要與 Frances分手﹐但最後計劃與她回美國醫治﹐三對戀人都有許願噴泉處團聚。
Three Coins In The Fountain 由 Jean Negulesco執導﹐由 Clifton Webb﹑Dorothy McGuire﹑Jean Peters﹑Louis Jourdan﹑Maggie McNamara 及Rossano Brazzi 合演﹐電影不單獲得Oscar的最佳攝影﹐同時由Frank Sinatra主唱的主題曲﹐也榮獲最佳電影主題曲。此曲同期也有 Julius LaRosa (1954/Cadence) 的版本﹐而The Four Aces (1954/Decca) 的版本更得到流行榜冠軍位置﹐另外也有Pat Boone (1957/Dot) 及Doris Day (1958/Columbia) 的版本。
